Answer
Check if your vehicle provides engine PTO data: How Can I Pull Engine PTO Data from MyGeotab
To create a custom PTO rule in MyGeotab:
- Go to Groups & Rules > Rules
- Click the Add button at the top
- Give a name to the rule and select the group to which it will apply
- Click Conditions
A) If the vehicle provides Engine Data for PTO:
Add the following conditions to the rule:
- Click on Engine data > Measurement or Data > Display all Diagnostics
- Type "Power takeoff engaged (1 = engaged)" and select it (other diagnostics can also be used, see additional notes)
- Click Over and then put 0 in the Value box then click Add
- Click More > Ignition > True and click Add
- You can skip to step 8. if you are creating a monitoring rule, otherwise continue to create a custom PTO idling rule
- Click on Speed > Under
- Put 5 km/h or 3.1 mph in the Speed box then click Add
- Add notifications in the Notifications tab: How to Set Up Email Notifications for a Rule
- Click Save
B) If the vehicle does not provide engine data for PTO:
Check that your device plan includes engine data. If not or if you prefer to keep your current plan, you can collect the data with an IOX-AUXM auxiliary harness.
To create a custom PTO rule, follow the same steps in A) but instead of selecting the "Power takeoff engaged (1 = engaged)" diagnostic, select the relevant auxiliary diagnostic (see additional notes).
Additional Notes
The "Power takeoff engaged (1 = engaged)" diagnostic is not always reliable data. The only reliable way to get PTO state may be with an IOX-AUXM harness.
