MyGeotab: Why am I unable to remove a user

Updated

Answer

If you are unable to remove a user from your database, there could be a few reasons as to why this is not possible.

  1. User has duty status logs.
    • If the user, even if it is a "test" or "dummy" account, has duty status logs attached then they cannot be removed.
    • The best workaround in this case (if the customer agrees to it) is to set up a purge of the HOS data 6 months after the last HOS log is created by the user so that once the HOS logs are eliminated there will be no problems deleting the user
  2. Security clearance may not allowed to administer users.
    • If your security clearance is not Administrator, then you will not have the access to administer users (add/remove).

Additional Notes

  • It is against the regulations of the FMCSA to remove/delete duty status logs. Any users with logs therefore cannot be removed.

  • Please note that a purge will not necessarily only delete this user's logs but all logs from the users of the specified group that were created previous to the purge period
