Symptoms
- Enter/Exit Values do not change
- Odometer measurements do not change
- Mileage on IFTA is 0 for portions
- Mileage (Distance) is missing on the IFTA report
Cause
When engine based odometer doesn't update or is inconsistent, the IFTA report cannot calculate mileages correctly.
Resolution
1. Download the Standard or Advanced Fuel Tax Report for the time frame needed and the desired vehicles
2. Open the report and un-hide the Data sheet
3. In the Data sheet, scroll to the last row of the affected vehicle
4. In that row, updateFuelTaxExitOdometer(Column O) to the correct value
5. ChangeFuelTaxEnterOdometer(column M)to a formula taking the corresponding FuelTaxExitOdometer (Column O) minus the corresponding FuelTaxGpsDistance (Column Q)
Example:8. Copy the formula to the preceding cells of the vehicle's FuelTaxExitOdometer (column O),
10. Find the first row of the affected vehicle and change the formula of Distance (Column J) cell to equal to the corresponding FuelTaxGpsDistance (Column Q) from the Data sheet.
Example:10. Copy the formula to the rest of the vehicle's Distance column.
- Example of formula:
- Click and hold the bottom right corner of the cell
- Dragup to the first row of the affected vehicle's data (if the report contains multiple vehicles, we only want to apply the formula to the affected vehicle).
Example:8. Copy the formula to the preceding cells of the vehicle's FuelTaxExitOdometer (column O),
- Select the cell and click and hold the bottom right corner of the cell
- Dragup to the first row of the affected vehicle's data (if the report contains multiple vehicles, we only want to apply the formula to the affected vehicle).
10. Find the first row of the affected vehicle and change the formula of Distance (Column J) cell to equal to the corresponding FuelTaxGpsDistance (Column Q) from the Data sheet.
Example:10. Copy the formula to the rest of the vehicle's Distance column.
- Select the cell and click and hold the bottom right corner of the cell
- Dragdown to the last row of the affected vehicle's data (if the report contains multiple vehicles, we only want to apply the formula to the affected vehicle).
Additional Information
- Incorrect IFTA Mileages When Odometer Values Do Not Update
- Mileage is showing 0 or negative values (no odometer data)
- Time for IFTA reports but odometer readings are not reliable
- Why is the mileage listed in the IFTA report lower than the mileage indicated on the trips history report? Where did those miles go?
